What South Charlotte projects run into
Undersized supply. A house plumbed for one and a half bathrooms will not comfortably feed a new primary suite with a multi-outlet shower. Upsizing the branch is straightforward during a remodel and impossible afterwards.
Venting that predates current code. Very common, and pulling a permit brings it into scope. Better identified at survey than at inspection.
Mixed pipe materials. Copper joined to galvanised, occasionally polybutylene from a 1980s addition. We correct rather than build on top of it.
Cast-iron waste under the new bathroom. Worth cameraing before tiling over it. Replacing it now is a fraction of what it costs once the floor is finished.
Additions and porch conversions

Often not without upsizing the branch supply — most of these houses were plumbed for far fewer fixtures. It is a straightforward thing to do during the remodel and an expensive one to add later.
Should we replace the cast-iron drain under the new bathroom?
Camera it first. If it has thinned, replacing it while the floor is open costs a fraction of doing it after the tile is down — and it is the one part you cannot get back to easily.
